Building Media Competence in Palestine

The objective of the Building Media Competence in Palestine project is to improve the media competence of the Palestinian people, especially in Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Hebron areas. The end result will be achieved through media education which aims to help citizens to develop understanding about the nature of media and to train them to enhance their own media skills and to create their own media contents.

The project implementation divides into two significant sub-programmes: the Media Education and Citizen Media Skills programmes:

The Media Education programme provides continuing education for teachers. During the programme the participating teachers will be provided with practical media skills and with theoretical understanding of the role, impact and power of the media. The programme encourages teachers to apply the ideas of media education in their teaching.

The Citizen Media Skills programme is directed at the Palestinian community in general. The programme offers training in media skills (radio, television and web) with an aim to help people to bring out their voices to media, especially via Internet.
